About Ask Me How I Know:
A card game for people who want to read minds, including their own! The rules are simple, but the results are profound. Ask Me How I Know uses the psychology of game play to create narratives that reveal insights, stories, hidden knowledge and even talents that you haven’t had the chance to share. Ask Me How I Know is designed to allow people to connect in an organic way using the mind’s ability to use words as symbols, creating narratives from memory and experiences.
We have found during the testing phase the game is perfect for icebreakers, dates, improv groups, couples, and game nights with family or friends, and can even be used as writing or journaling prompts for solo play. Therapists as well as health and rehabilitation specialists have enthusiastically recognized the potential of Ask Me How I Know to help patients and clients activate their minds and engage, offering a natural collaboration with recovery efforts and overall well-being. Like we said, simple game but with profound results.
How to Play:
We have suggested rules, but the game is versatile enough to create your own! There are 78 cards with a prompt word on each. Our suggested rules have the narrator shuffling the cards and split the deck into two. The narrator flips the top cards on each deck, sets the timer to one minute, and uses the prompts on the cards to create a narrative. For example, the narrator may draw “nature” and “dating” and begins to tell a story about a horrible date at the beach. Another narrator will have taken those same words and created an entirely different narrative based on experience and word interpretation. So you see why we call this a game for mind-reading – you’re reading your mind at the same time the other players are reading yours. Be careful! These cards might tell on you…
